Event Information:

The NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (DOHMH) is sponsoring a free virtual blended buprenorphine waiver training in collaboration with the Montefiore Buprenorphine Treatment Network Friday, November 6, 2020, 1:00pm-5:30pm. You must reside, practice or study in one of the five boroughs of New York City to attend this training.

  • All participants must complete a four (4) hour online course prior to attending the live session. The link to the course content will be in your confirmation email. 
  • This training is open to medical providers (MD, DO, NP, PA, Certified Nurse Midwife, Clinical Nurse Specialist) and students (MD, DO, PA, NP) who practice, reside, or study in New York City.You must reside, practice or study in one of the five boroughs of New York City to attend this training.
  • If you practice at Montefiore select the "Montefiore Medical Resident or Clinician (MD,PA, NP)" ticket
  • If you are not a NYC medical provider nor student, select the "Waitlist" ticket and you will be contacted prior to the event.
  • Registration by October 31, 2020 is required.
  • One ticket is issued per registrant and is not transferable.

Background :

Buprenorphine is an effective medication for treatment of opioid use disorder, and can be prescribed in office-based general practice settings. Any physician, nurse practitioner, or physician assistant can prescribe buprenorphine after obtaining a waiver. Physicians are required to complete an 8-hour training in order to apply for a waiver; nurse practitioners and physician assistants must take 24 hours of training (inclusive of the 8-hour training) in order to apply. This course fulfills the 8-hour training requirement, with half online and half in the live virtual session.
